What is artificial intelligence (AI)?

AI is created by giving machines special instructions called programs and lots of information called data. Think of it like teaching your pet a trick! You repeat the trick until your pet learns it. With AI, scientists show computers patterns and rules so they can "learn" to recognize things, solve problems, and even make guesses!
For example, when you watch YouTube videos, AI learns about what you like to watch and can suggest new videos based on your preferences. Pretty cool, right?
